Find some inspiration with a little help from my favourite quotes

"Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it."

Greg Anderson

Why do I like the quote?

It is so easy to focus on the destination and believe getting there will make us happy. It means though, in the meantime we live waiting for happiness. Usually we are at the destination a matter of seconds before we are looking for the next, and sometimes the destination is isn't the butterflies and glitter we expected.

“It isn’t what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about.”

Dale Carnegie

Why do I like the quote?

Reminding me that where I place my attention, plays a big role in my happiness.

"Knowing what's right doesn't mean much unless you do what's right"

Theodore Roosevelt

Why do I like the quote?

This quote sums up a conversation I had this week. When your actions start to match your values and what you know - there is a sense of freedom that comes with a pure feeling of content.

“Healing comes from taking responsibility: to realise that it is you - and no one else - that creates your thoughts, your feelings, and your actions.”

Peter Shepherd

Why do I like the quote?

The moment you realise your reactions are your own responsibility - you gain so much power and ability to change your life.

“The biggest rewards in life are found outside your comfort zone. Live with it. Fear and risk are prerequisites if you want to enjoy a life of success and adventure.”

Jack Canfield

Why do I like the quote?

Taking that step into the unknown can be full of fear and risk, but the possibilities and sense of achievement that comes from stepping outside of your comfort zone make it all so worth it. It's uncomfortable, but being stuck in the same place brings much more discomfort and regret in the long run.

"At the end of the day people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel."

Maya Angelou

Why do I like the quote?

I was reminded of this quote listening to a podcast this week. It reminded me that my vibe and energy will influence those around me. Try and make your interactions with others count.

"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion."

Dalai Lama

Why do I like the quote?

It seems obvious that compassion may well be the answer to many of our difficulties, but it's so easily forgotten. Keeping this quote in mind might help us to remember.

“The art of peaceful living comes down to living compassionately & wisely.”

Allan Lokos

Why do I like the quote?

Any quote that reminds me to slow down, make wise choices and be kind is a favourite quote of mine. Being kind to yourself and others is an under-rated tool for happiness.
